Cola Beach: the Blue Lagoon in the arms of Arabian Sea
Cola Strand (oder auch Khola) liegt im Süden von Goa, 40 Minuten vom Cavelossim Strand, 4 km vom Agonda Strand und 15 Kilometer vom Palolem Strand in Canacona taluk (Canacona Region).
In fact, there are two beaches: Little Cola Beach in the north and usual Cola Beach in the south, which all together enframe two adjacent bays of the Arabian Sea. It is often said that this place is a kind of mysterious and even secret, probably, because both of its beaches are almost hidden from prying eyes among thick overgrown hills, and until recent time tourists evaded them with their attention.
A distinctive feature of Cola Beaches is the pure blue lagoon, which is formed by the river flowing into the sea. The distance between the sea and the lake is not so big: they are separated by the narrow strip of sand. During hot flushes the cool fresh lagoon water is mixing with warm salty sea water.
It should be kept in mind that the depth of the sea near the coast changes abruptly, plus there are stones on the sea bottom, so it is better to consult with lifeguards about the best place to swim at. Cola Beach has soft nice sand of golden hue, but still lots of huge stones can be found even on the seashore itself.
Cola Beach has not so many places for tourists to stay in. Among the best ones to be named: Blue Lagoon Resort Hotel, Cola Beach — Exclusive Tented Resort Hotel, Soneka Cola Beach Hotel, Dwarka Hotel. There are two types of accommodation: tents and bungalows. The Beach has two shacks. Prices for accommodation and food are above average in South Goa. So, those who have ever visited this part of the region for holidays advise newcomers to visit this extraordinary and beautiful place, for a short period of time. Cola Beach resort will be very suitable for people with incomes above the average, who are looking for romance and relaxation.
