Dudhsagar Water Falls
“Milk Sea” – this is how the name of Dudhsagar Falls is translated. These amazing waterfalls are located on Mandovi River – the largest river in Goa, in Western Ghats foothills, on the border of Goa and Carnaka States.
Due to its height of 310 meters the Dudhsagar Falls became one of the top waterfalls in India and took their deserved 227 place in the list of World highest waterfalls. Multi-leveled and full-flowing even in dry season, this amazing waterfall is considered to be one of the most impressive natural phenomena of South Goa.
Below the falls you would be able to enjoy the naturally-formed lake with very cool water and plenty of large fish. But many tourists are not taking the risk to swim in this challenging lake.
Usually, tourists are coming to the waterfall by train from Colem station, and then take a drive in a vehicle. A Jeep will perfectly take you to the place, located 1 km from Dudhsagar Falls and then you will need to walk a little bit enjoying the fantastic sightseeing. The vehicle rent will cost you about 2000 rupees. It is strongly recommended to avoid to travel on your own, because the last part of the road is too difficult to overcome by yourself.
At half of its height the waterfall intersects with the Londa-Madgaon railway route. To watch and enjoy magical Dudhsagar Falls from the closest distance you should take a seat on the Delhi-Goa Express (12780), Howrah-Vasco Amaravathi Express (18047), Pune-Ernakulam Express (11098) or Chennai-VascoDaGama Express. You can find the schedules and prices for each of these traines on the official Indian Railway Company website -http://www.indianrail.gov.in/.
