Galgibaga Beach

Turtle Beach in South Goa

Galgibaga beach or as it is also called Galgibagh Beach is located in the south of Goa in Canacona region (Canacona Taluk), 7 km from famous Palolem Beach resort. Many people consider the whole Arabian Sea coastline from Talpona River mouth up to Galgibaga River mouth to be the entire coast. Probably due to this wrong way of thinking there are some discrepancies in how to call the Beach properly.

Galgibaga Beach is also known as the Turtle Beach and is one of three other Goa beaches (alongside with Agonda beach and Morjim beach) where the state program of olive turtles saving and protection works and implemented perfectly. The whole northern part of this beautiful beach is used for turtles nesting.

The beach strip is about 1,7 km long and is covered with dense pine vegetation. The place is almost empty and has a kinda sharp entering into the Sea. The swimming here sometimes can be not very safe, but brings vacationists a great pleasure from having a rest and swimming in the waters of this paradise resort.

In the southern part of the Galgibaga Beach some shacks with a little bit modest menu of different dishes and drinks can be found. The prices here are not so much high too. Unfortunately there are not so many places to stay in here: comfortable Hatsus at the beach, few very suitable villas in the village and a small family hotel not so far away from mentioned above villas. Galgibaga Beach resort is really amazing place for solitude and quiet, leisurely hanging out and comfortable rest having: swimming, sunbathing, golden soft sand and warm tender Arabian Sea waters. What else do we need for unforgettable holiday spending?

The easiest way to reach Talpona Beach resort is to drive NH17 Highway, which starts in the south of the City of Chaudi and runs through Galgibaga resort. There is, however, another, shorter way to get to Talpona Beach resort but it is more difficult: you will need to cross a small river bridge. After you pass the City of Chaudi you will need to turn right; in few kilometers the road is crossed by the railway – here you should turn left and drive a road which runs parallel Talpona River. In some time you will see the bridge which you will need to cross. The only one problem is that it is difficult to find the log onto the bridge, so you’ve better ask local citizens about it.

You can cross Galgibaga River also on a ferryboat.
