The main attraction of Colva Beach is Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church ( Nossa Senhora de Merces) which is also the main temple of the town. This amazing architecture masterpiece was built in the 17 th century and is famous for its miraculous statue of the Infant Jesus.
Every October a grand festival of Fama de Menino Jesuse dedicated to Jesus the Christ is held in Colva resort. During the festival the statue of the Infant Jesus is removed from the Temple and is leading the religious procession. This is actually the biggest festival conducted in Colva resort, during which people can enjoy amazing fairs and funny folk festivities.
In mid-April the Beach Bonanza Fair festival begins. This is really fantastical and very funny event, during which lots of fairs are conducted, loud music is playing all over the resort, dances and loud fanfares entertain crowds of people coming here from other parts of the state. The festival is held in Colva, Benaulim and some other beaches of the region during three Sundays in a row.
